I think that if you can be held responsible for choosing to drive while drunk, then you can be held responsible for choosing to get married while drunk. The decision you make may be irrational, but it is not irreversible in the case of marriage. Your assets might suffer some damage, that's just the price of your lesson.
ok see your point on the medical side of the tattoo thingy but then you get onto getting married while you are drunk well how can you make a rational decison when you are pis*ed...and I have never gotton married or been drunk or had a tattoo at the same time... all done on separate occasions. cheers for the info though !

Be very, very certain you want it done before even walking into the tattooists.
The vast majority of people that regret their tattoos got them just just because they looked cool, or are a "spur of the moment" descision, or a friend got one done, and the vast majority of those are ordinary "flash" (standard designs seen hanging on the walls). The best way to get inked is to have a specific reason, then talk to the tattooist about designs until it's perfect, and then go home and think very hard about whether you're certain of getting it done or not.
All mine, for example, have very specific reasons and meanings behind them, and were designed and drawn by myself with the exception of the last one.....it's beyond my artistic skills and my tattooist is a fantastic artist and, so I just gave him the rough design and he did a few drafts before starting the work.
It's never too late in life to get ink. My father didn't get his first tat until he was 50, and I know a couple other people who were older than him before they got their first. Also, the other poster was right, they can be addicitive.

Originally posted by fiestaI got married twice when I was stone cold sober , and they were both mistakes . Maybe if I was drunk I wouldn't have .

Ps - Tatoos would have been less of a mistake , and less painful too .

These guys are just wimps .... if you want a tattoo go to to a port city, drink a bottle or two of rum ... then you'll be in the ideal frame of mind to decide what you want ... you'll never regret it ... well not till you sober up anyway

A friend told me that they shave the area prior to tatooing it . He wanted to go to a tatoo parlor , have the guy shave his ass , then tell him he'd changed his mind and run out . It was kind of his twisted version of the flaming dog doo on the porch trick .
I was about to get a tatoo when I was 16. Thanks God I didn't do it. I was abroad and when returning home and telling my parents that I was gonna get one, they said they woudln't let me in the house if I would have gotten it.
