Pay attention man! He asked for an example of a deleted thread. I gave one. How could I give an example of a deleted thread without giving an example of a deleted thread? 😕

I'd say there's a difference between catching a mouse in a trap and hacking up a monkey. But in either case, if you disagree with what the person is saying, why not just mock them openly for saying it, rather than going behind their back and deleting the entire thread?

I wasn't accusing you, but somebody on the mod team has gone rambo on the general forum. There has been more than just spin threads deleted but like I said I can't remember the names of them.

Not so much. Actually I found the idea of laughing at the deaths of the mice kind of repulsive. They're actually sort of cute if they're in somebody else's house.

I'm just not a thread snuff fanboy. I don't think we need to be protected from mildly repulsive points of view. And it's annoying as hell to have dozens of people's writing erased, based upon your disagreement with one poster's viewpoint.

It wasn't MY disagreement, but I do agree with it's removal. I just can't understand what's hard to understand about the thread's removal... it's not good for the site in any way.

I have fought to have things put back in the forums, but this just isn't a thread I feel deserves to go back.

I don't mind, in fact I support, keeping decency in the fora but when there is 60+ posts in a thread then its probably been jacked and has some decent material. In other words, delete a thread as quickly as possible but don't delete the whole thread when there have been so many posts in it.

Another thread that vanished not long ago was a 'swearing' thread where people were making up swears.

I knew eventually it would get out of hand, and it did.

Sometimes threads are removed before they escalate, it's really not to hard to see where a thread may eventually go.

I've looked over the list of removed threads, and the only ones I didn't think 100% should go were a couple spin-off threads.

Everyone has a different level of tolerance, so there is no pleasing everyone. For anyone like you who doesn't want things erased, there's another user who wants more erased.

You could make that argument about the entire general forum.

I thought it should be erased just sooner, but once there are so many posts deleting the WHOLE thread is overkill. Its like killing a mouse with a shotgun.... Oh wait.

No brainer. Any monkey in the zoo could have seen where that thread was headed.
