The herd will all agree on the post, or disagree which ever the case might be.
What exactly will you be proving or accomplishing?
More important is who has thumbed and in what direction - you either agree with the thumber or you don't and consequently the thumb count has more or less significance.
What's your "contribution" going to be?

I don't write scripts, & if I did I wouldn't do so in the negative way that you do.
o Add a FEN position to the analysis board
o Hide posts by a given poster
o Enter moves by algebraic notation
o Add analysis board link to the My Games page
o Alter other users avatars as seen in the forums
What's so negative?
I'm contemplating a new script to allow users to state their approval or disapproval of a given post - one that allows for non-anonymous thumbing. Something that other users have requested before (Greenpawn being the most recent as far as I'm aware).
Your "contribution" to the site so far seems to be sniping and side-kicking (both of which you do admirably well I must say). But other than that .. what exactly are you adding to the value of this site?

I think it is quite rude & picking on that one poster. What good has it done other than hurt the feelings of the poster you made it for. People don't use the damn thing anyways as is obvious with the insults hurled GB'S way.
As I said I don't write scripts. I have however bought Subscriptions for others on this site.
I try and keep the herd at bay when they are getting carried away picking on a poster(S). Something I am very successful at you must admit.

It would be a full time job just thumbing your posts.
Perhaps Phlabs can help there, he seems to have lots of time for thumbing posts.

I could do it in a number of ways - either two separate counts of up / down - one anonymous, one via the script; or a unified count with subscribers to the script showing their names to other script subscribers - maybe as a tooltip ... maybe as a link. Not sure.
I have no time, of course, at present to do this work - but I feel I may have an opportunity in the near future ...
Originally posted by orangutanSo it will be the GB haters who will be using this as they are the only ones with your script. If they actually used it, they wouldn't know what he was saying would they! 😛

I'm am a bit surprised Russ allowed the script right from the start. Perhaps you both thought it would help things.
I think all it did was hurt GB'S feelings, not that you care about that!
Originally posted by orangutanMmm. Sounds like a white elephant to me. I'm sure you could put your time and effort into something more usefaul, but that's your choice at then end of the day.

You or GB (or anyone else) could use the script to ignore me (or anyone else).
No one is removed by default - it's choice that's left to the individual.
Please don't condemn a thing without first understanding what that thing is. If you think that the gbaway script simply ignores Gramps - then you're wrong. It's a tool to be used as one sees fit.
Again - I feel have made a real contribution to this site. I've helped people enjoy the forums, make use of the board, and I'm willing to sacrifice a bit of my time to do this. The question is what are you doing to enhance the site?

I'd never download a script made up by someone else. One never knows what is all in it but the writter.
Go back & read what I said in my aforementioned post about what I've done to enhance the site. You don't seem to read what what is said to you.
You just like to PUFF out your CHEST and say look what I've done for the site. SO WHAT, you can write scripts it is the least you can do for the site.
You also make it your job to point it out to EVERYONE.
