( This is not a racist thread, just an interesting fact ). The majority of jews today who say they come from the lost tribes of Israel are in fact khazars who converted to judaism and have no link to any lost tribes of Israel. The khazars were a nomadic people who had a big empire by the caspian sea. You can only be a jew by converting to judaism, a so called race of jews simply dosent exist in the modern world.

yes, after Titus sacked Jerusalem in 70CE, killing an estimated 1.5 million persons who were gathered to celebrate the passover, the public records linking the ancient Hebrews to their ancestral tribes was lost, making it thereafter impossible to trace anyone's family lineage to any particular tribe.

Um. I don't know where you get that number, but even Josephus doesn't go beyond a million or so, so the real number was probably closer to half that.
In any case, the Judean province was inhabited, relatively peacefully, by both Jews and related peoples such as Samaritans and Aramaeans. So both of you are talking out of your backside just as badly as hardline Zionists do.

Firstly on what basis are you calling into question Josephus account? secondly Joseph estimates that the number was 1.1 million persons killed in the siege alone, and 97,000*persons captured. This of course does not include the campaign prior to that in Galilee, making your assertion my friend, unfounded and erroneous. Plus, as has escaped your notice, the entire Judean nation was gathered for a celebration of the passover, making the estimate entirely tenable. Have you read anything of the siege, of Josephus and his account. I suggest that you do so before you call into question any of the details, otherwise, you'll be roasting like a loch fine herring!

the original post is interesting. the follow up posts are equally interesting.

It seems to me that this belongs in either the spirituality or the debates forum.

some topics are provocative and probably will be for several more thousand years. this is one of them. practicing a little restraint in responding would be better than flaming someone out.

DEBATES...as to why on earth this collective 'wishing to be sensitive to non Christians' clap trap governing the use of C.E and not the recognised A.D. Even going back 15yrs, my wishy washy History lecturer insisted words to the same effect as listed in many 'future proof listings'.. something of the order, 'I suggest Common Era designation is not sufficiently culturally neutral, because it does not remove the birth of Jesus as the era marker'...it's been fine to all for two millennia excepting the Chinese and perhaps isolated countries \ cultures also. This is just marginalising those over say 45, akin to to the BBC insisting on reading their weather in *C and kph...when most of the population can relate only to *F and mph. Wishy washy liberals the lot of them 😛

thankyou, if this went to spirituality it would end up with chesspraxis stating that Josephus could not think for himself and he probably copied and pasted the estimate of how many were killed, Jaywill claiming that the lost tribes were lost but now found , trev33 saying that his cat can trace its lineage back to the lost tribes of Judea and RJHinds claiming that it happened last year, in St Antonio, Texas and Karoly Poly after lighting a splif claiming they are really Martians who are lost from the extremities of the Galaxy!

You fly a Union Jack, so I'm guessing you're probably a Brit. If so there's a better-than-even chance that if you go back a few hundred years your ancestors weren't.

What? You didn't mention me? Aghast! Great satire btw, you seem to actually have a sense of humor or humour as the case may be. Funny one!

Doesn't make you any less British though, does it?
