Well said Dustin I think they are doing a great job. Just a question if you don't mine.. Is a see saw rating a possible sign of a cheat? I hate playing people when they start a game or tournie at 1350+ them resign lots of games or let lots of one day games time out and beat me as 940 rating taking lots of points.
Just curious as to why some people do this.

It's not possible all the time as there are some that took long vacations enough for them to be timed out. I believed that this has happened to a few people.

As to deliberately doing this? I do not know unless they want to join a tourney and their rating is too high. Or they get a kick out of it.

Stop being so bloody selfrighteous.
Of the people who left the site over this issue, a large part was close friends of IM in real life. Other players will have left because they dislike the principle of game mods.
I think it is very rude of you to imply that all high rated players who left the site because of this cheated, maybe you should broaden your horizons a bit to consider other possibilities. I don't think anybody who didn't know IM personally left because he felt sorry for IM, at least I wouldn't leave for someone I've never met in person. I would though if it happend to one of my personal friends and I was convinced they were not cheating.

Angie did any of his friends say he didn't cheat? Do they sympathise with him cheating, getting caught or just getting sacked from the site. I've heard the one about revealing evidence etc...that won't work because you'll always always get disenters. I read one post that he was using one engine for all of his games which is the easiest kind of cheating to catch. I'm low ranked but put the effort in to try to play the game so I do like the idea of some experts watching over the site to ensure I'm not wasting my time playing a lazy cheat with an engine.

Yes. I don't want to reveal names here, but all of the people who know him personally are outraged by these cheating accusations and the ensuing measures.
I'm also playing IM on gk, and I'm positive he doesn't cheat, although that's just my personal opinion. If there's one thing No1Marauder has convinced me of, it's that if you adjust the settings in an engine long enough, nearly every good player will show a high matchup. Mind you, I'm not trying to criticise the game mods here, it's great that they put so much effort into this site-I'm just stating my opinion.

You know him personally? As in..... Ironman comes to your house for dinner and you two sit down and go over games? Why did you not bring this forward during the time of banning? I think that you should march right to russ and vouch for ironman straight away and we can be done with this.

I look forward to him being reinstated here the salt of the earth real person it is.

Oh, I did. But much as it might surprise you, there are other people besides yourself. I used to have a lot of respect for you, but that's mostly vanished. People have stopped percieving what you say as true without doubt, and you should get used to that. I was reluctant to state my opinion on the matter in the forums because I don't really have any evidence to back it up and I'm a 1100-player, but now I did. You might be right, but then again you might not be, and there are several people who know what they're talking about who disagree with you, which only encouraged me to question your standpoint. I've spoken to people who know him personally, and they all agree on this issue. I am playing him on a different internet site who's name I am for some reason not allowed to spell out as my post will then be auto-removed.

I could care less what a self-involved child thinks of me. If you're going to use my username in a post, at least try to wrap your simple mind on the basic concepts I have put forth. I never said or suggested that ANY top level player would match up at high levels. It is possible to do what Ragnorak does and torture an analysis into a high matchup in some cases if you are trying to force a high matchup out of the data; but if you are "convinced" that I and/or the Game Mods were trying to get a high matchup out of IM's games you are mistaken. My own analysis was done the same way for my games with him as they were for my other 700+ games here and on other sites. The Game Mods I'm sure didn't want to find that IM was a cheat; it was pretty obvious that his banning would cause an uproar and trigger some defections from the site. You should credit the Game Mods and Russ for having the integrity to do what the facts required, rather than implicitly criticizing them when you admit you don't know what you're talking about.

Thanks for bringing my age into this once again... what an important and relevant point.
1. I was not criticizing the game mods, I said that explicitly in my first post on this subject!
2. Much as I'd love to, I didn't even mean that I think you are twisting the analysis. What I meant to say was that I believe it can be done, which was shown by different matchups from different people's analysis of the same game. For me, this means I'm not going to trust any analysis 100%.
I accept the game mods' descision, even if I personally disagree with it.
And yeah, I'm very sorry for having an opinion even though I'm not a 2000-rated player. I don't know what got into me, posting my views in here (emphasizing that they were only my personal views) instead of babbling what someone who happens to be good at convincing other people wants me to say. Sorry for not expressing your views instead of mine - so go sue me.

There are good reasons why children under 18 aren't allowed to vote; they generally lack sufficient life experience and maturity to make rational decisions on a regular basis.

Whatever you said about the Game Mods, you also said

Thus you are saying the Game Mods banned an innocent person while saying they have "overwhelming evidence beyond a reasonable doubt". If that isn't a criticism, then I don't know what is.

Sure different settings, different engines and different computing power will vary the actual matchup percentage. I haven't seen a single analysis from anyone suggesting that IM didn't have an extraordinarily high matchup percentage. I don't know how we are supposed to determine who's using an engine if no analysis can be trusted. You might has well just welcome all engine users with a smile.

Your opinion is noted and others can judge its value.
