Damn, I thought I was on the money.

After a few beers I definately expected more from you, struggling with the technical aspects of this endeavour is no excuse.

BTW, Russ, was the date wrong because I work on Africa time maybe?
Africa time being "next week has at least a few working days"

actually-it was a really close game-there was, after all, only 3 points in it, and in the first half, although australia didn't have the ball that much, they crossed the gain line a heck of a lot more than england. and if the auzzie no. 12 hadn't missed those kicks in the first half?...
😀😀😀😀
We won!!
The game was not as close as the score indicates. England dominated most aspects of the game.
I would have been severely depressed if England had lost that - could hardly bear to watch the extra time - since we always get accused of being arrogant, yet we never actually win anything.
I agree, we are arrogant about our useless, overpaid, underperfoming football team. But after this World Cup I'm not going to watch a football game again. Rugby is miles better (League even more so - however has anybody noticed that Australia beat Great Britain 3-0 🙁).
And stop whinging, scottish people. If you're so sick of England, put together a half decent team yourself! Most Englishmen support Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and even Ireland but all we get is strife from the miserable scots (mostly).
Anyway, we won, I'm happy, our team are heroes!!

England deserved to win it.They have been the best team for the last 18 months.I was happy to see them win it as a lot of the players will be retiring soon. The team will not have have been remembered for the great team they are had they lost that match.

Andre Watson did not have a good game.I think a lot of his decisions favoured the Aussies but England went to sleep the 2nd half and made things very difficult for themselves.

We now have to pick our WC Team based on players performances in this WC.This is what my team looks like:

15. Robinson Eng
14. Caucaunibuca Fiji
13. Mortlock Aus
12. O' Driscoll Ire
11. Rokocoko NZ
10. Wilkinson Eng
9. Marshall NZ
8. Van Niekerk SA
7. Back Eng
6. Smith Aus
5. Jack NZ
4. Johnson (C) Eng
3. Vickery Eng
2. Wood Ire
1. Woodman Eng

The following guys were unlucky

Greenwood Eng
Galthie Fra
Howlett NZ
Michalak Fra
Muliaina NZ
Cannon Aus
Larkham Aus
Waugh Aus
Crenca Fra

Who would you pick?

Dear god, I finally found another league fan here. 😵

Did you happen to catch any of the games Varg? The Union overshadowed everything over here so I had to settle for highlights. They all looked like crackers, especially the last one. A try in the last minute to win it, excellent stuff.

Well the last game was played in my home town!
But I didn't go - never actually been to a match.

I saw the second one - very exciting game with a sizable British lead reduced and overtaken in the second half.
And I saw the end of the last one - heartbreaking - 12-6 to Britain when I switched on with 5 mins to go. Suddenly 2 aussie tries plus conversions steal the game.
The 3-0 sweep looks like a thrashing but all 3 games were close. Britain just need to be able to play for 80 mins.
By the way, League is much more popular up here in the north of England than Union.

It was heartening to see such close games. When you guys toured Australia a while back and we flogged you by 50 points everyone was declaring that international League was dead. But since then we have lost to New Zealand and had three very competitive games up your end.

I'm glad to hear League is still holding its ground up there. Things went rapidly downhill in Aust after the Super League war but the wounds are finally healing. With any luck we will have crushed Aussie Rules in Sydney and Brisbane and have begun to encroach apon their home soul by the end of the decade! Up the revolution!

Dont forget the special mention for world record cap Jason Leanard, the only member of either side from the '91 final still playing! Fair play fella! 😵

As for Crowley's earlier comment that Australia vs England final '91 dosnt count because South Africa were not in it, I wont even waste my breath with a response to such utter garbage!......

England victorious, very happy and glorious!!!!!!

Hey, stop having at my bretheren.

... otherwise I'll leave RHP, just try and stop me...

BTW Dylan, if league was actually played here I probably would've supported it, there's just no following for it here.
I love any sport (even darts and bowls - can't go wrong with a sport that you can compete in with a smoke in the mouth and a beer in one hand)

Good choices Johan, may I suggest some changes? 😀

15. Robinson Eng
14. Caucaunibuca Fiji
13. Mortlock Aus - If Marius Joubert had played in this WC he'd be in here (damn injuries)
12. O' Driscoll Ire
11. Rokocoko NZ
10. Wilkinson Eng
9. Marshall NZ
8. Van Niekerk SA - I'd put in David Lyons (If we're going on WC performance)
7. Back Eng - Maybe Richie McCaw, in a struggling kiwi pack he really stood out
6. Smith Aus
5. Jack NZ - Victor Matfield, in my books the best line-out lock in the world
4. Johnson (C) Eng
3. Vickery Eng
2. Wood Ire
1. Woodman Eng

Slightly unorthodox maybe but wouldn't you love to see it!

15. Robinson Eng
14. Caucaunibuca Fiji
13. O’Driscoll Ire
12. Wilkinson Eng
11. Rokocoko NZ
10. Spencer NZ
9. Dawson Eng
8. David Lyons
7. Richie McCaw NZ
6. Hill Eng
5. Jack NZ
4. Johnson (C) Eng
3. Vickery Eng
2. Thompson (Eng)
1. Woodman Eng

Just as a note I would put Thompson ahead of Wood only with Martin Johnson playing as he is such a great captain and much like Wood leads from the front. I would have loved to ahve found room for a Welshman after their performances against NZ and England.😛

Good one Mat!Wilkinson at centre.I love the idea and think he might be even better at centre than flyhalf. One change I would make is Dawson out and Marshall in.Spencer needs a physical scrumhalf like Marshall to be at his best.

Yes Werner I agree about McCaw he had an excellent world cup and deserves to be there. The one South African who would have been there had he nott been injured is Jean de Villiers.People will meet him in 2007 though.
