Question @ghost-of-a-duke

As an NHS employee yourself, was your income positively impacted by the recent round of public sector pay increases implemented by the Government?
I don't work for the NHS. FMF corrected you on this previously. I'm employed by a local council. (And received no pay increase).

Not at all.

No more than your odious return to RHP posting and the restart of your club followership project is is a reflection of your vanity. No doubt the forum will have to put up with your usual trolling about “weaponising mental health” every time your find yourself in a hypocritical pinch.

Such is the internet 😂

I think you’re more interested in sticking up for the Labour Party.
Well, in fairness, it was the Labour party that introduced the winter fuel payment to pensioners. (1997).

You've already conceded that wealthy pensioners shouldn't receive the payment and that it should be means tested. (Which it now is, due to eligibility being determined by receipt of a means tested benefit).

Not entirely sure what you are complaining about...

Worth noting, 'In 2002-3, approximately 29% of pensioners were in absolute income poverty, compared to 2022-23, that number had dropped to 12%. Children and those in work have higher rates of absolute income poverty and rates of material deprivation

Pensioners have had their real income grow between 21% - 36%, over the past twenty years, compared to working age adults, whose income has grown by 10% in the same amount of time. Working-age adults also have had to deal with stagnated wages since 2008.' (Wiki)

Bottom line, it is the right decision to make sure the winter fuel payment only goes to those pensioners who struggle to heat their homes over winter and that others in society who struggle in a similar manner are not disadvantaged.

I acknowledge that you support the withdrawal of the winter fuel allowance which millions of pensioners need and will suffer without.

Oh that’s that right it is Enfield Council; I had to check your famous histrionic email for the work address you sent it from.

Talking of 'millions', 1 in 5 pensioners is apparently a millionaire in the UK, meaning before the recent means testing of the winter fuel payment, a fifth of the payments were being made to millionaires while other vulnerable members of society didn't receive help in heating their homes.

Pensioners who are struggling financially should indeed be supported to receive pension credit which is the gateway to the winter fuel payment.

Yes it should be properly means tested, and there should be an impact assessment.

Would you like me to send you an email with reply on a video loop?

Here is Keir Starmer in May this year attacking the Tories over the threat of taking away the winter fuel payment for pensioners; two months later he did it himself.

So much for the “Labour Party” … what a hypocrite that man is.
