I've heard the quote, I didn't know where it was from or why it was said. (I do now after reading this thread)
I just think that uzless was making a joke with no intention of disrespecting servicemen.
That's all.

In a way it kind of paid off, all my cousins and such were in Sunday school... my mother told my father to let us kids make up our own minds.

So the paratropper has a peace sign..cool, funny too, I retired after 20 yrs in the army. Once while a recruiter in san diego I had a peace sign painted on my recruiting office window with a wreath that said peace on earth(it was christmas). I thought it quite funny after all itwas 1972 and everyone was against the war so I thought it showed solidarity with everyones wishes. Being a soldier is to fight the war not justify it or promote it..as a soldier its about each other not politics. I fought a war because my it was my duty to my brothers and country. But that does not mean Iam not allowed to think or find humor in adversity. And by the way the marines turned me in and I got in serious trouble for it....still think it was funny

When I think Dixieland, Pennsylvania is the first state that comes to mind.
