Personally I find that on the whole my life has improved over time, even though some areas have become worse. I don't see a reason why that should suddenly change when I turn 40 (in three years).
I had a slap in the face run in with mortality. I play baseball, and I am not a starter this year. I am finally aging. I want to be the younger spry version of me. Seven more years then its all down hill.

EDIT: Happy Birthday, Stevens!
