I reached the 1700 as i promised and now i'm in the top 500 list!
BUT now the games get too difficult. Looks like, it will be difficult to keep this rating. Earlier I won against some >1700 almost easily. Higher rated players play so loosely with lower rated players. In some game it was really fun [by product of underestimation]. Now all are playing serious games and I'm waiting for luck...

You're still paying jack ... The reason (so I would believe) is to try the site and if you like it to subscribe ... Unlike other programmes/sites etc. correspondance chess can potentially take months to complete a game hence there is no chance of restricting non-subs to a certain amount of time before they have to subscribe ...
There is NO good reason for someone playing here 4 years to not to subscribe (and tightness doesn't count) ...
So how about you do some growing up and understand how this world works ... Without subs the site would never exist in the first place ...

The fact that non-subs do exist means that you guys dont even have to put up with the ads at all. Fair play to those of you who do subscribe, but that doesnt mean we have to. If you guys want the extra features, then you guys pay for it. We dont, so we wont! (personally i have occasionally considered it but my wife and kids think im on the pc too much as it is lol).
The point is that Russ feels that it is fine for non-subs to continue to play long term or even permanently since we do bring in some revenue and use up so little resources. If he was not fine with it, then he would do something about it. Therefore I shall repeat my original post : "check out the opinion of the moderators and webmasters before spouting your childish crap".
We non-subs pay the price for not subscribing in many ways, namely the limit on the amount of games we can play. We shouldnt have to put up with pri... (sorry i almost swore again) ... people giving us abuse aswell. We deserve at least some respect in the community man ... dont we??

Welcome to the forums. There are many non subs who have made far more moves than you. If you enjoy all the features you can access without subscribing then carry on.
The forums are the only part of this wonderful site where you will recieve stick for choosing the non-sub route.
I for one played here for two years before subcribing. As I never entered the forums in that time, and therefore I never saw any any need to subscribe. Forums add volume to rhp, but it is perfectly possible to enjoy the site with the sound down.

I don't see what the big deal is. Subs, stop beatin' up on the non-subs (except the stupid ones like the zzz1 or whatever it's name is) because they don't want to/can't get a star. And non-subs stop trying to get more out of a site you don't pay for, what you have now is fine. I spent a short time a while ago as a non-sub and it was fine, although it's nice to not have ads.
Simple enough?
