@shallow-blue saidSo are you saying they've actually been there with signs and walked away in one piece?..........Amazing!!!
Oh, they do. Repeatedly. But they're ignored in the name of Tradition.

@relentless-red saidThe only way imo to try and create change is to understand the thing you’re trying to change, it’s easy to sit on the sofa and say cockfighting is cruel and barbaric but when you spend some time with the people doing it and see the joy their Sunday activity gives them it gives you another perspective.
That's one of those debates that could be taken round in circles without finding an answer. How much does trying to see things to broaden your understanding perpetuate and validate them through your presence. How much does not seeing them or pushing them out of sight mean that you argue from ignorance about something you have not seen and can't put in a context or prop ...[text shortened]... stick it in DF if you wanted to observe the position of America's political parties on the matter. 😁
@trev33 saidI’m sorry that I made you feel the need to be defensive, my comment was a little challenging.
You can stick your head in the sand if you like but things still happen in the world.
I personally wouldn’t feel the need to experience a local culture’s indulgence in blood sport in order to understand them, or it, more deeply. Watching animals fight, perhaps to the death, for entertainment is fundamentally amoral in all circumstances in my opinion. I’m sure you are a good person who is on a journey, but I find your defence of seeking cultural enlightenment unconvincing.
@trev33 saidI personally don’t need to watch cockfighting in order to understand it or condemn it, and I’m quite capable of making that judgment from my sofa. I don’t feel that traveling to India and working on a tea plantation somehow excuses your indulgence in this vicious entertainment, nor does it justify your “sitting on your sofa” sleight against others who are morally equipped to assess this blood sport without the pretensions of seeking a cultural emersion.

@velns saidPerhaps we all have to be a little more understanding of other cultures?

It may even help all the fighting that goes on in World and the crap we see each night on the news, those of us lucky enough to have T.V.'s and take them for granted.

Could you kindly explain what you mean in terms of the morality of animal blood sports please?
@velns saidFirst you'd have to understand different cultures, then perhaps you may understand the the animal blood sports better than you obviously now do.
Hello Very Rusty,
Could you kindly explain what you mean in terms of the morality of animal blood sports please?
I should add here:
It doesn't mean we have to condone it in anyway, but understanding may help.

@velns saidNow who’s defensive? 😂

I do agree with you that it’s wrong but try telling that to 100 odd Indians enjoying their one day off a week with a cultural pastime. Indulgence is pushing it, experiencing is the work you’re looking for, experiencing the joys on people’s faces who don’t have a lot is rather priceless.
In Peru I’d agree with you more, what I witnessed was just cruel and wrong but possibly because I didn’t have any connection with anyone there and didn’t talk with anyone to understand them. The world isn’t black and white you know.
@trev33 saidTrev33, I honestly don’t need to meet 100 odd locals and give them my views in order to perceive myself that animal blood sports are morally wrong.
Now who’s defensive? 😂

@very-rusty saidIt seems that you have probably have nothing worthwhile to offer on the topic, but feel an overwhelming need to post about it anyway.

@the-gravedigger saidA lot of religions belief in life before death.
In some religions animals are alive before they are killed.
@relentless-red saidWhat an interesting approach.🤔
A lot of religions belief in life before death.
