@rajk999 saidMillions? Fat chance.
Yeah ... maybe you are correct there. Over time the world is getting more and more tolerant and intolerance will eventually be eliminated. Think of where we were 500 yrs ago. The Catholic Church was killing people by the millions
Anyway, most of the killing was done by political and commercial entities (and in those days, those were often the same), with the church (papist or not) merely used as an excuse. The Spanish sent priests over to Central America, but the real reason for the killings was the power of the Black Monarchy and the riches of the Silver Fleets.

@shallow-blue saidI could name of you religious nut jobs as well who went on a killing spree, means nothing. In general atheists are much more tolerant of religions than religious people are towards different religions. Fact. It’s the not giving a toss that we have in our favor.
Again: try North Korea. Or Albania under Hoxha. Or the Killing Fields. Or the Holomodor. Or the Cultural Revolution.
Nobody mass-murders like an atheist with an agenda. Not even the Peoples Temple.

@trev33 saidStating "Fact" does not make it so. The worst mass-murdering regimes of the previous century were all anti-religion at heart; in fact, looking at China and North Korea, they still are.

As for personal tolerance... I've had very pleasant conversations with members of other religions, and been scorned deeply for believing in "beardy daddy in the sky" by atheists. I've never been told I will go to hell by a muslim or a buddhist. I have been so by, surprise, American evangelicals, but not once by local ones. I've also been told I am mentally deficient by atheists from sundry countries - that hatefullness is not limited to the USA alone.
You may be confusing "atheist" with "agnostic" or "uncertain". I have also had decent conversations with people who did not think they believed in a god, but weren't willing to state that they knew all spiritual thought was untrue. Never, once, with someone who was rock-hard sure that religion is bunk. That kind of person is, in my consistent experience, not tolerant at all, and they very much do give a toss about insulting you for not being as "rational" as they are.

@shallow-blue saidYou tell me about how he works being you know so much about the good Lord. 🙂 😛
