The thumbs up and down not being anonymous would be "tyranny"? How so?
"Removing free speech is always the first act of tyranny, and never the last."
In other words, I've already answered this. So your "What?" is really a bumbling fumble for something to say, like usual. You really do need some new tricks. The interrogation routine is getting old.

No, not at all. Why?
Unless, of course, it is a few individuals trying to express their opinions as if they had "the divine right of kings" upon them.

Originally posted by FMFDo you vote in elections? Would you think your vote would be as safe, or even as truly freely made, if it were not made by secret ballot?

How might you vote differently, if your voting record were made public knowledge?
(I know this might seem bizarre for you, but try to think about the question before shooting from the hip.)

You still haven't addressed the question: 'How can the thumbs up and down not being anonymous be characterized as "Removing free speech"?' If thumbs up and down were no longer anonymous, you could still use them, still not use them, you could still say whatever you want, or not say whatever you don't want to say, you could keep your feelings and opinions secret, or you could tell people about them; your freedom of speech would be unaffected.

Are there times when you thumb posts down and it's important to you that nobody knows it was you?

Removing free speech is always the first act of tyranny, and never the last. If you remove the anonymity of the thumbs, you may as well remove the thumbs entirely.
