He could have done that analysis with fritz (he does use fritz to analyse his games)
Even if he did that himself he will just not be able to do it as fast as deep blue and deep blue does not get tired.
I do think players like kramnik or karpov would have a better chance against deep blue because they are very possitional players and this works ...[text shortened]... ery well against computers because in possitional games its not so much about concrete analysis.
Originally posted by SirUlrichSorry but I have to disagree I think there is a huge difference between using a book and an engine (I take it's that the software is called?), I think using a book requires a certain amount of chess knowledge and understanding of the logic both during the opening and of course continuing when the opening goes out of the book. An engine however surely just spoon feeds the moves not just for the opening but until the last move (I think the occassion you mentioned must be quite rare...i.e. the opening book playing through right until the end) Personally I enjoy the game much more when it does go out of the book, I still prefer rapid chess without any assistance but have learned quite a few moves/strategies from playing on this site and reading books etc. It's just a pity some people spoil it by cheating.
You make an interesting and a valid point. However under the TOS using books and databases are allowed, so people do.
Morally of course there is no difference between getting assistance from Fritz or from the GM who happened to write tha ...[text shortened]... th the help of an engine
Woooooooooooo Wooooooooooooooooooooo

if anyone ever cheats also can we find out.
no!!
so why rant abt it.
we should just play the game and love it as it is .
its upto th e person who is playin that i fhe wants to cheat or not.
so stop ranting abt it

The shame of it 🙁
He is a top bloke though. Hats off to Mr Alterman 😀
Originally posted by CorsairIndeed. Interestingly he plays the Bird as white against computer. Granted he uses it to transpose to the Berlin while avoiding certain lines but still.

You can play it through at http://www.chessgames.com/perl/chessgame?gid=1283543
However it seems his site is down, which is a shame because it has his analysis on it.
I love the position on move 26. Can't say I've seen that before.

I would love to read his analysis. If you find it please let me know.
Xanthos - that is a gem! 😀

I use MCO as I am permitted to under our TOS. I'm studying opening theory, and if I'm allowed to do so then there is no better way to learn than in the context of actual games. However, sometimes I get a suggestion from the book (especially in the obscure lines in the notes) for a move, or sequence of moves, that I know I would never find or play using ...[text shortened]... sually make a point of leaving the book and playing somethiong of my own - even if it is weaker.
Chesscomputers are nothing more then big chessbooks!
