There are 2 mature things to do when someone starts a thread you don't like.
- The best option is to ignore it and resist the temptation to jump into it and thumbs-down the author, or initiate a revenge/humiliation thread.
- The 2nd best option is to go ahead and post in the thread, but post whatever you want. You aren't forced to read what the author said. Ignore it if you don't like it, and just add something of your own.
I get that a lot of folks think Grampy is a pain in the ass. I think it's pretty clear by now that he's here to stay. So why not either ignore his posts, or, add whatever you want to his threads - no harm no foul. It's not like you are bound by some rule to stick strictly to the subject.
I've been known - in a moment of weakness - to go into someone's thread and illustrate my point that they are contributing nothing meaningful - by posting a totally off-subject thing like a recipe or a wiki page.
That's not a nice thing for me to do but I harmed no one and I didn't personally attack the poster. I just tried to make a subtle point.
All these attacks are unhealthy and get you nowwhere. I'm sure you've figured out by now that you are not going to attack Grampy so much, that one day he will just give up. The man is stubborn as a mule - he's not going anywhere. Embrace it or ignore it.

But seriously.. I don't know.. I've been in another forum and have seen fighting so vicious... I finally left. Quit posting for awhile and then came back here. I left here because I don't like our inability to use colors and post links... very restricted... but since I'm here making chess moves anyway I thought I'd give this place another shot.
I'm wishing (and not demanding, I have no power and no moral high ground) that the back and forth would stop. I'm not directly involved in it, and from a fairly objective point of view it looks so silly and pointless. Nothing can be gained by it.
