I really hope not.
My TV License is a complete bargain - and I would never begrudge paying it. (I remember an American friend saying "Ha! You even need to have a license to own a TV in the UK! How ridiculous..."
True, but...
* I watch commercial free TV. Over multiple channels. (News24 gets most attention.) My son watches commercial free kids TV (this alone is worth it!)
* I read all my news on the web from a commercial free web site - and the BBC site really is the best on the web, in my opinion.
* I listen to radio/web casts without commercials. And there is a huge variety of stations. (Sport/Current Affairs/Music of all tastes) + digital radio stations.
And it isn’t politically biased (well, not compared to most other media outlets - I’m thinking anything Murdoch here…. )
I feel I get better value out of my license than most - and, ironically, I spend a lot less time watching TV than most. Long live the BBC – I still love you!

I don't see the BBC as being particularly biased. We certainly don't get the gung-ho propaganda that (say) Fox served up during the Iraq war.
As for being anti Bush - Don't you understand? The guy is an imbecile!
"If you don't have any ambitions, the minimum-wage job isn't going to get you to where you want to get, for example. In other words, what is your ambitions? And oh, by the way, if that is your ambition, here's what it's going to take to achieve it."
Any ideas what this means?

From a "Yankee" perspective though... except for the 51% on the coasts... 🙂😀😛
Yuck!
Why the hell should we care about the euro-centric view? You guys have not been right about "war and peace" in over a thousand years. We, on the other hand have never lost a war. Except Viet Nam. And maybe Cambodia. Then when we lost.... your champions killed millions.

Sky do not operate this system, if you chose to watch you pay if not your not asked to subscribe. So the bbc do not need to justify there programes and make shows to suit there makers not veiwers. I have sent in over 50 complaints with only 2 replys, (1) the bbc try to please everyone but this isnot always possible, (2) veiwers have the right to switch off programes. In both cases they ignore my main complaint and reply to the lesser.
With all the upheaval of recent days, resignations and all. Do you think that the government will force the bbc to become a commercial chanel?

Sure, we are funding things we never benefit from, like World Service, BBC World, and all the digital channels and radio, etc.
But Sky subscriptions are extortionate, in my opionion.
I thought the BBC was a semi-commercial organisation anyway. Its funding does come for the government via the license fee, but also the BBC sells a lot of stuff to.
BBC books, Vids, DVD's etc,
BBC TV shows to foreign networks
BBC TC show concepts...
This is all commerical operations. I was at a big education show at the beginning of the yeat and BBC Education was one of the largest exhinbitors and they were.... selling
