If you had to subscribe to the BBC it would be a lot more expensive.
Sure, we are funding things we never benefit from, like World Service, BBC World, and all the digital channels and radio, etc.
But Sky subscriptions are extortionate, in my opionion.
Murdoch's hunger for global media domination never misses an opportunity like this one.

Well they have had a huge monolopy for, like ever. I`m just getting really fed up with the self promotion adds that they`re running. As far as i`m concerned an add is an add. Pretty much all tv at the moment is cr@p. Sky are outbidding anyone and everyone on the decent shows. So what will the bbc have left? More bloody reality drivel, wonderful waste of budget.
Originally posted by PaulieI agree the ads are relentless. I mostly watch BBC2 and they seem to show the ad with that boxing promoter about every ten minutes!

With all the upheaval of recent days, resignations and all. Do you think that the government will force the bbc to become a commercial chanel?
The BBC makes the highest quality programmes of any station in the UK - certainly the best comedy shows and documentaries, and its educational output is outstanding, something that comes about as a result of needing to output only commercial-friendly shows.
There is a difference between popularity and quality. Of course, many popular shows on commerical networks are of a high quality, but the pursuit of popularity certainly comes before the pursuit of quality where sponsors are concerned.
The BBc are increasing their license fee again. Personally I find the ads on the other channels more entertaining than the constant repeats the bbc seems intent on showing. And get this for generosity: if you're registered as a blind person you can have a 50% discount....wow, kindness in abundance. No no, I'm being a bit harsh because if you're over 75 you can have a FREE tv license. I'm sure all the OAP's scraping by on their pittance of a pension are really grateful to the BBC for that.!!!
