Wish I knew how to play the guitar

Recently heard a seemingly savvy musicologist professor on some television interview show state that the guitar has always been a classic phallic symbol: the long neck, undulating curvature of the base and responsiveness of the digit strings. Never had heard that interpretation before. Graphically, guess it sort of made sense. Guy capture something or is he out to lunch?

Maybe that's what Billy Squier was referencing with his old classic...

"Do your fancy dances you can't stop you just stroke me, stroke me"

It's never too late to learn, just get one and pick up a book or get lessons. It's even better if you have a friend who knows how to play for free advice.

Some day I also hope to learn to play guitar.

No one can learn to sing, you either can or can't.

Ignore all of these, more than not they teach bad habits and shortcuts. There is also no feedback whatsoever, which is essential for learning. The only way to learn properly is to have 1 on 1 tutiledge with a good guitarist and more importantly one that knows how to teach too.

Wrong, everybody can sing. You can learn to sing better. Therefore some people can sing better than others.

I disagree. Your blanket statement is a bit misleading, and would be more accurate with a qualifier. ie don't expect to learn concert quality classical guitar from a book/interwebedz or other sources than directly from a proper tutor. If you want to learn to play beatles songs at campfires and cookouts, books and www are fine places to learn.

I could have been that pedantic, but I assumed that people would want to learn a lot more.
