I don't agree. From what I understand the US has spanked Japan around. Japan has some flashy breaking ball pitching, and honor... but when US played Japan they stomped them, and there was no honor in the beating they gave them.
Someone else please verify this.

Didn't want to hurt anyone's feelings! This is indeed a thread for lovers of the sport.
Hence, I gracefully withdraw, and leave you to the manly and envigorating pursuit that is baseball.

The reason abstinance from sex "could" work in Africa is because of the deluded belief that screrwing a virgin without a condom is seen my many HIV-infected men as a cure for HIV, thus infecting the poor teenage victim.
This was reported in some of the foreign media, but local inquests have shown that there is no such belief among black people (at least not in Southern Africa).
Some reporter got it wrong.

Just to clarify - I'm talking about the rape of young virgins by HIV+ males in the hope that it will cure the disease.
Unprotected sex is still a big problem here, which is only worsened by woman who consent to it (even knowing the male is HIV+!) to show him she REALLY loves him. Ludicrous...

I call your bluff here. There are teams from Japan that could beat both the ChiSox and Astros blindfolded. Japanese players play for love of the game, instead of multi-million dollar contracts. I'd rather watch Ichiro Suzuki steal 3rd than Barry Bonds pound out steroid-assisted home runs and cry when the media calls him on it.
While it may be true that Japanese players play for the 'love of the game', citing Ichiro might not be the best example...after all, he came over HERE so that HE could sign a mulit-million dollar contract... and actually, a lot of washed-up Major League players end up continuing their careers in Japanese baseball, although at one time (maybe they still do) I think there may have been a limit in place as to how many American players a Japanese team could have (guess they didn't want one team with a bunch of Americans to become too dominant...either that, or else the entire Japanese major league would consist of ex-MLB players from America).
(don't get me wrong, I love watching Ichiro play...son of a gun's got the best throwing arm I've seen since Roberto Clemente, and he can absolutely fly...wish the Yanks or the (Red) Sox would get him, so at least he'd be on TV once in a while).
And the home run hitters in Japan might not be assisted by steroids, but they are assisted by tiny little ballparks (and I'm not just saying that because they mark the outfield distances in meters) 🙂 Of course, the dimensions are the same for everyone, so no one player benefits more than another, unlike in Bond's case where steroids benefits the user...
As far as anyone being upset that it's called the "World Series", it's time to get over it... does every single country (without exception) in the entire world participate in the World Cup tournament? If not, let's do something about THAT name... (and if every country in the entire world, without exception, DOES take part in the "World Cup" tournament, then I'll be the first to admit that the "World Cup" name is appropriate)
Originally posted by TheBloopAtr least we have more than one country competing in the respective world cup events.

Originally posted by TheBloopEvery single country with a National Football Federation who is a member of Fifa (and there are around 150) get to play in the World Cup (of football, or Soccer). They don't all make it to the finals (only 32 teams make it every 4 years), however the qualifying competitions are based on regions to make sure that every part of the world is represented. I am starting not to care about your domestic baseball cup, especially as no-one will answer my questions about the sport (see earlier posts in this thread), but don't mess with our football. The World Cup is a WORLD Cup and is deserving of the name.
