This site is absolutely inundated with cheaters. I am literally amazed and appalled. If I had to guess, I would say that at least 50% of players over 1900 and 75% of players over 2100 are using computer assistance in their games. Their games match nearly 100% with Fritz. It's pathetic. This is what I'm paying for? How difficult is it to get a team together to root these people out and ban them? To say nothing of how inconceivable to me it is to cheat. What is the point? A high rating? Don't you have better things to do with your time?

This is an old complaint. However if 50% of 1900+ are cheaters with 100% matchup with Fritz why don't they reach 2100 easily?

Darfius, it is annoying. Just got to play and not worry about how other people want to cheat at a board game... Just enjoy it! 😀

That it is an "old" complaint only makes it more intolerable that it hasn't yet become an "obsolete" complaint. And the 1900's are on the way to becoming 2100's with a few roadblocks posed in facing stronger computer assistance.

Send Feedback with very definitive evidence, every time that I have done this, the cheater in question has become banned - there is some sort of game moderation system, it only bans cheaters well beyond reasonable doubt, but this standard is pretty easy to attain, the difference between engines and humans is easily detected if you know what to look for.

There are some strong players, at the very top for instance, David Tebb has beaten Kasparov in a simul and has drawn a few GMs at least, Northern Lad has beaten a bunch of GMs, and drew the great Bronstein some years ago, and they're 5 and 6 in the site - the cheater problem is handled better here than elsewhere.

Many of the high rated players I've faced are legit, a few I know are not, but I pay here to get good games, and extend my repetoire, I much prefer the OTB atmosphere and would greatly prefer to not play the occasional cheat - a system is in place to get rid of them and I don't have to play them too often, besides I get interesting chess, so I'm not too jaded about CC as some players are.

hear, hear! I could never understand it... well, I'm not really that* worried about the whole issue given my current rating, but, indeed, been trying to understand the motives of people opting doing it. In fact, was trying to think of some other sphere of our daily life where people would do that (but I couldn't really come up with anything):

(a) pay money (as most of the banned cheaters here had taken out subscriptions) in order to get (b) 'anonymous' recognition with (c) no any material incentive/gain whatsoever. I don't know, it's as miserable as getting laid by spiking girl's drink with the Rohypnol.

*it is not to say though "screw the global warming and those polar bears as long as I can enjoy nice British summer"

p.s. I remember how one of my opponents, after having read my profile, PMed me saying "I don't mind engines, those guys actually help me improve my game and I don't have to pay for that!". Don't know if there's any sound logic in that, but it's a rather healthy attitude 😉
