Inkling and the iPad:

Textbooks are different animals than e-book novels and business books, in ways that current e-readers can’t handle. For starters, you don’t read a textbook’s pages serially from first to last. You need to be able to jump around, skip, skim, and flip back and forth between chapter review and chapter content. A textbook’s content should ideally be dynamic from year to year, not frozen in time like a novel.

Looks just like a big iPhone, but I think this has potential to take home computing into a new age.
But there is only one problem. People don't read. They will buy this thing and then realize they don't read newspapers or books. People will not buy e-books or e-newspapers.
It will sit on their coffee table so that they can show it off to their friends but they won't use it.
It will only be used by the odd university student and old people who can't see the numbers on their regular sized cell phones. So, go buy your paperweights you lemmings!

Most people don't need a computer. They have these super powered processors to go on the web and check out facebook or mail. The tablet format looks to me much superior for such people.
Just a few years ago minority report had Tom Cruise using an interface that read his movements. Now we already have cameras that read your movements and allow you to use this as an interface. It's still crude, but it's here and it's probably only going to get bigger.
And this is similar. The format is just something that makes intuitive sense. Maybe this is the bronze age of tablets, but it's still something.
Anyone knows any sci-fi film that featured things like these tablets? I'm sure there are some.
