Originally posted by RBHILLI think Tennessee missed a great chance to be the Tennessee Rednecks. Fits so much better than "Titans".
How about instead of Washington Redskins we call them Washington Rednecks and they could have a cowboy face instead of an Indian face.

What I don't get is why it's ONLY the Redskins. There are many other teams named after some sort of "Indian". Are we going to make owners rename all those, too?
What about the Fighting Irish? Isn't that racist, too?
"Redskins" is a term, not a tribe name, and has a white-man derogatory history. In Washington DC today, that is a lightning rod. The current Administration likes to keep all past sins of the white man front and center, to score political points with the revenge-minded. That's why Fightin' Irish aren't included. Fightin' Kenyans, now, would be black-listed. (Oops.)
