The post that was quoted here has been removedWesterners also have been displaying their 'knowledge' of the Palestinians, which range from popular racist stereotypes that Palestinians are all evil hateful Muslims thirsting for the blood of all Jews to (at best) that Palestinians are hapless refugees unable to fend for themselves in a modern world.
This westerner is now reading a condensed version of the Koran, as well as some supplementary material including opinions of prominent Muslim clerics. I don't yet have enough knowledge with which to form an opinion of the Palestinians, and even if I did, I highly doubt this westerner would be able to alter the plight of the Palestinian people.

@mchill saidThe Hamas Charter, the duly elected authority for the Palestinians, did a good job of telling people who they are and what they intend to do. They want all of the land of Palestine, every inch and they want all the Jews dead. That is not any stereotype, that is a fact. From all the hostilities it is clear that they are in fact unable to fend for themselves. There is nothing racist neither stereotypical about that. Those terms are used by people who lack the anility to think for themselves and find comfort in going with the flow of popular opinion.

The post that was quoted here has been removedI resided in the Moslim quarter of East Jerusalem. I worked with Palestinians near Ein Gedi. And I worked on refugee camps with “Stateless” refugees.
And the Israeli perspective you talk about is the Orthodox and Likud (conservative) perspective which the media push(ed).
I’ve added the past tense, because that trend is slowly changing.
In Israel itself there are quite large groups of people (some even activists) who do not support the current regime or this conservative/ religious drive to ethnically cleanse the country.
Go figure! Not all Israelis are evil, not all Palestinians smell of roses and not all Westerners have the same views on any matter.
I’ve even been pleasantly surprised that one or two of our arch right-wing Americans are critical of Israel.
It’s a very complicated situation over there. And thinking that “The Palestinians” are a homogenic group that have a centralized charactaristic is intrinsically wrong as well.
From Christian Palestinians, to secular “moslim” Palestinians, to people supporting Hamas out of poverty to the religious right and fanaticalism.
By herding people into a tight knit group to identify them, it becomes easier to hate, kill and/ or judge them. It’s one of the major problems in Israel/ Palestine. And it’s a major problem with many of your posts about Westerners as well.
It’s also tied in with the trolley problem and how mental retards justify murdering children.
100?
I can’t even readily identify 100 actors, collegues or people in general. Never mind remember their bloody names.
But then again, people have suggested I have prosopagnosia.
Scandanavian crime series’ are a bloody drama for me. I get very mixed up who’s who.
Which is probably why I like watching films / TV with famous actors in them. They, have a higher chance of standing out and me being able to recognise them.
And I’m terrible at remembering names. Probably the best thing about the pandemic really. When you have meetings (and I chair meetings 6 hours a day) all the faces in MS Teams have names attached to them. Very handy!
So, yeah, hardly able to recognise faces and an inability to remember names... in my line of work it’s bloody amazing what I do and I demand a nobel prize for it!
However, no, I can’t name 100 Palestinians or any other groups. At all.

I recently had a FB friend make a post supporting Israel and demeaning the Palestinians . He posted an article which was clearly a propaganda piece for Israel .
Only one person disagreed with him but then backed away from the discussion . Perhaps it was because he is a master chessplayer who many respect . I replied that Israel was violating International law by seizing Palestinian homes and that is a crime . I further pointed out that the US was not only giving Israel $10 million per day but now preparing to make a major weapons sale to Israel . I pointed out that the US was giving de facto support for the apartheid actions of Israel . The US is complicit in these crimes . It has been 2 days since the post , he has not replied nor has he unfriended me .
