I can secure myself so that when I use IE7 I get just as many spyware/malware/viruses as when I use FireFox, which is 0.

YOU CAN STILL GET VIRUSES AND SPYWARE AND ADWARE THROUGH FIREFOX....
to say you cant would be to say you cant download software through firefox....
it is microsoft who have done a lot of work recently into removing unintentional downloads.... usually bad links, mozilla are way behind in this respect.... but hey, i just run a network for 2000+ employees what do i know
