What do you think about playing 1...b6 against 1.e4 or 1.d4 ?

In my opinion this opening are much better that its reputation. Using this opening I got some victories in OTB even against stronger players. Playing it in RHP too. Here is one very fresh example Game 2925431

It seems playable, it drives me nuts when I have to play against it. I don't really have any experience with the line, but against it things can get really annoying for white.

Even some GM`s playing it regulary and not only against weaker players. For example Czech GM Pavel Blatny.

just an fyi, but 1.. b6 is the english defense, and is practically playable if not theoretically one of the best moves.

b6 for white is english opening(not defense) or flank opening.

It might be a bit better then its reputation , still there is a reason why top GM's dont play it: If white knows what to do black has some opening problems to solve,
As for the name, I know it is english defence as well as owen defence

1.e4 b6 Owen's Defense
1.d4 b6 English Defense

There can be some transpositions it appears. Looks perfectly playable to me. GM's dont play it often, but that is fairly irrelevant to players of our skill level....

Korch, after 1.d4 b6 2.c4 Bb7 3.Nc3 e6, which line do you hate to see the most? 🙂

I had a rough time against this defense Game 2909724,I pretty much did what I wanted to do, but I really dont see how I should go about attacking black, any suggestions?

My strategy was to take over d5 and slap a rook on the 7th rank, which I did, but my opponent didnt see that capturing on d5 created a connected passed pawn, and I think I should have won from that point

It's hilarious the way your opponent tried to chase down your passed pawn.
