The Winower, Advance, Tarrasch...have a lot of central traffic to navigate through. French players typically know the pawn breaks and the angles needed to keep pressure on White's pawn chain...The exchange takes the typical French game out of the mix and immediately puts the French player into a relatively foreign line...No traffic, wide open. Yes its even...but is it?
