What does this crappy comparison mean?
Are you saying that women playing in tournament with guys have no chance of winning?

I think that you're more gender-discriminating than the people who make fun of this tournament or enter it just as a joke.

I think the only people who have a problem with this idea are guys ...[text shortened]... o get their heads straight - women are now exceeding in math, engineering and management skills.
let me guess? your a Liberal?
When society decides to create an enemy, they pick the ones who are most sucessfull. Men have dominated in many feilds, thus creating jelousy in women. With the help of liberals like you, they have created a target in men.
ever hear of Freuds 21 ways to destroy a society? (not sure of the title)
One of the ways was to create friction between the sexes.
This seems to be a good way of doing that. Good job! 🙄

Precisely. Why don't you sponser an all-male tournament arrakis?

As for being involved in a tournament with only 2000+ players, I would consider it as a chance to learn a great deal. How you can't see that it's discriminating towards women just to have a special tournament just for them is beyond me.

i don't think the girls care enough for it to be causing friction between the sexes, it just seems to be causing friction between arrakis and the rest of the men on the site. i don't know, i want to support his idea but he should have known that this would have happened. after all its just a t-shirt does anyone really care that much about a t-shirt, but maybe he should have sponsered an all male tourament as well just to shut everyone up.

Seems condencending. A free tshirt? at least offer something real, like a beefcake calender of some buff naked guys....or maybe just a cookbook instead..😵

This brings up an interesting question of what happens when a tournament sponser doesn't follow through on their obligations.

Great idea: the women play with one another, and the men watch. If that isn't political progress, what is?

There is a difference between sex and gender.

Your sex is either male or female and it is determined by your physiology.

Your gender is not necessarily so definitive as it can tend more feminine or masculine depending on what particular traits are being considered. It is more a function of how you behave and how close to one extreme you tend compared to the norms of the society in which you reside.

I mention this subtle nuance only because I find many of the posts in this thread quite amusing. It is funny to read about you guys questioning your gender, or even claiming things like 'gender discrimination'.

Maybe the admins need to be more clear about what they mean. If it is a female sex only tournament, you have to be a woman. If it is a female gender tournament then you guys with a closet full of dresses may still qualify.

How is it discriminating towards women? chess does have separate chess tournaments for women! its well established although women are allowed to enter men's tournaments. I am sure the current British, American and World women's champions would all take issue with you on this. The women's world championship organised by FIDE will take place this March.

There are gender specific competitions in all sports. Why not chess?

I looked it up, it is well established, i.e. Britain, Usa, Europe and the World all have women's championships, FIDE are organising the women's world championship this March

Why are you all saying arrakis has to sponsor a male tournament? If YOU want to sponsor a male tournament, go right ahead. It's not arrakis' responsibility to fit your agenda.

Complaining and 'protesting' about ONE tournament you can't enter is petty in the extreme. God, Xanthos, it's not as if you don't have plenty of other options!

I cannot believe all this is over a stupid t-shirt.

Arrakis, maybe you shouldn't have offered a prize at all. Drop the t-shirt prize and see how many guys drop out. 😉
