Call me stupid, but after dxBe5, white has no immediate threats or checks. What is so disastrous in Akizy's position that he should resign?

I await illumination!

Rxe5 would be better I believe. But both favour black unless I'm mistaken. In which case there must be some other reason for the resignation.

Well, I'm glad I'm not an obvious dunce. I did look at Rxe5 and thought it might be better. I chose the defensive recapture for the question I posed.

Its hard to say who is the best but Ironman31's record is incredible. over a 1000 wins and only 2 defeats.

What this site needs a an anual RHP tournament with only the top 16 players involved. each plays the other once, and the winner is crowned official RHP Champion for 2005.

The 2005 Championship is pretty much this, only more people than the top 16 are allowed to join.

yeah but if it was only the top 16 in a league format, then the top players would all play eachother, whereas in the current tournaments they avoid eachother sometimes. not all of the top 16 enter, ...maybe it could be a knock out? would be very interesting.

No - it isn't.
Out of top-16 only 4 are playing in 2005 championship:

1. IronMan 31
<...>
3. David Tebb
<...>
9. Weyerstrass
<...>
12. fernando JPVasquez
............................................................................................................
Anyway - there is some analogy with current Roland Garros, when IronMan is Federer and Weyerstrass is Rafael Nadal

Roland Garros is my grandpa... or something like that I forgot how he's related to me, I remember from when I was doing a family tree thingy for my english class.

There you go then. So why not have an offical RHP championship. Wherever happens to be in the top16 at, say January 1st every year, is entered. League or straight knock out...i'm not sure. either way, it would be very interesting to watch. anyone else agree?

Who said that anyone in the top 16 would willingly participate in such a tournament? None of them are obligated to prove themselves or anything...

What reason would they have for not entering? they all enter tournaments don't they? if they do then they can enter the same one, just like the top players in the world are, in any sport.
