Sintubin,I play the Alekhine too.In that game(108689) you play what I know as 'the classical variation with Bg4,main line'.Now,I have a problem with that line.I believe that the move 6.0-0,Be7? is no good. For reasons seen in that game, white gets excellent queenside play and black has very little counterplay. An alternative is 6.0-0,Nc6?,however,that seems even worse!I've been looking for an improvement but found none.Except to just avoid that line,of course.Since I don't really want to do that,I was hoping you might have an idea.😀

The Davies book on Alekhine's agrees with you. He says the line "has come under pressure from so many different directions that I find it very difficult to recommend."🙁
I was aware of the comments on that line. The thing is that "has come under pressure from so many different directions that I find it very difficult to recommend." isn't very illuminating. I wanted to try this myself against a strong player. And I enjoyed every move from that game. But I still don't know what exactly is the problem.

Originally posted by sintubinSorry to keep up the sad mood, but I looked on ChessMoves.com for the last 10 games in this variation (B05, Modern) and black won zero, drew one, and lost nine!:'(

It was played four times by three different players at the '02 Bled Olympiad (including one by specialist Baburin - see http://www.chessgames.com/perl/chessgame?gid=1256380) and they all lost.
Hard to find a common theme, though white got big queenside space advantages in several of the games. 😕
