OK, I've just found something new. Euwe does mention the name of Alfred Wolf (one f, no e), not in connection with the Réti Gambit Accepted, but with
a. the realisation that 1. Nf3 d5 is an Indian defense in the attack;
b. an investigation (ca. 1920) of 2. c4 followed (presumably not - because he never mentions it in that line - after 2 ...[text shortened]... cted with the Réti Gambit. It should not, even so, be connected with the RGA at all.

at least I now know he existed!
I must have just read a certain line after 2. c4 that was associatted with him and somehow associatted the gambit line with him. (It was a long time ago)
Of course being nicknamed Wolfie in real-life and playing a Wolf Gambit was rather appealing .... 😞
Incidently I can vouch for 2 . ... Nf6 being bad for black - I love playing against that!
