What a shame - and you sounded so happy.
But you did ask what we think.
Actually cannot advise on what to do as games in progress.
However let us assume (for the sake of argument) that you were
lost in three games with no throws of the dice left.
Try resigning all three within a second of each other - you never know
it might fool the rating thingy and you might only lose the points
for one game.

okay! phew! I resigned some lost games, and settled at 1443, at least the suspense is now overππ
Originally posted by duecerPlay as if you were lower rated and had nothing to lose. I know that when I got to some fairly high rating (for me) on ICC I also didn't want to "ruin it" but this feeling actually made me ruin it. I played too defensively - afraid to lose. When I let go, I did even better.
My rating skyrocketed in the last few weeks to an all time high of 1442. I know that's not much to most of you, but its alot to me (I'de be prouder if it wern't for those timeout winsπ ) Now I'm terrified of moving because I might make a mistake...the pressure is killing me. Maybe I should just resign a bunch of games and get it over with. What do you all think? (I know I'll regret asking this).:'(π
Congratulations. And I know that feeling, too, of fearing to make a mistake. And I have found some solace from that problem by making a real effort to play the game, not the rating; to make the best move possible; and to always -- before hitting that sometimes dreaded "Move button" -- go to the "Analyze board" and "flip the board" to see the board as your opponent sees it. It's amazing how often that view will reveal a possible mistake that can be corrected in time. Also, and this is only to perhaps alleviate that anxiety of "making a mistake," try looking at your rating as only a guide to you to see how you're improving relative to yourself. Hope this somewhat helps.
