Hi, I recently finished a game where I barely scraped by with a win against an opponent rated 300 points lower then me. My opponent was playing with the white pieces and started with 1.d4

I do not have much experience with these types of openings and was surprised at how hard it was to obtain the advantage. Ultimatley I ended up gaining a tactical adv ...[text shortened]... er combat the d4 opening?

Game 2675261

Any input is greatley appreciated.

Thanks.
OK - you did say any advice welcome and I'm only in the early stages of studying the Nimzo Indian please feel free to correct as appropriate:- my first thought is what aboout giving the Bishop a prod with a6 for your move 9 instead of the pawn capture. This would give white the choice to either waste another move as they retreat the Bishop or swap the knight for the Bishop.

Also, although there is quite a rating difference I think your opponent put up a good fight.

I always play 1.d4(Queens Gambit) so if you want to practice your defence against it feel free to send me over a game.

Had White played 11.f4 then black would have been in some serious difficulties. Just goes to show, offer a weak player an exchange and they almost invariably take it!

Here's a game where I missed a mate in 1!!! against a player that was about 300 pts. lower than me at the time. You wanna talk about frustrating?!

Game 2654418

Move 26 Qd1# was screaming at me after I made a quick and hasty move. I later resigned the game in disgust after fooling around with trying to catch a blunder. Perhaps I could have gotten a lucky draw in the end, but like I said, I was pretty upset with myself anyway.
