Suzainne,
There is a difference between 322 points (that you mentioned earlier) and almost 800.
And with regards to sandbagging ... Nyxie has not been sandbagging she has simply played a 1200-1300 standard for over 300 games and now she is playing at around 2000 - That's not sandbagging that is well, I said it often enough before that is .....
Boris
You sandbaggers need to take some responsibility for your own actions before trying to camoflague them by pointing to someone else.

One of the things you'll notice about chess improvement in players is it isn’t gradual. A book I once read said something along the lines of "If there’s 100 things to know to get from 1600-1700 and you know 99 of them then you're still 1600, add the last 1 and you're 1700"
Hmmmm, she's gone from a consistant 1400 rated player, to now a high 1900 rated player in less then a month. *scratches head*. Maybe she should give players around her previous strenght advice on the quick miraculous improvement?
If you have ever been at a chess club for any period of time you do note that players chess ability has a tendency to jump very sharply from time to time, at least two people at my club have jumped miles in terms of ability since the end of last season till the start of this. Their ratings wont reflect it for a season or two but on somewhere like RHP due to the ongoing nature of the site rating jumps are easier to see as they happen. Lasker (although im sure he was never held up to the claim) said he could make anyone a master in 100 hours, while 100 hours is a pretty stupid number in my mind it does show that Lasker believed with intense study that people could gain chess ability rapidly.
The guy who wrote a book including the CT ART "400 points in 400 days" thingy also said the course could be accelerated to gain the 400 point in a shorter time.
A lot of National Chess Federation sites have a "Most Improved" section to the ratings, if you want I can go and point out a ton of people who have improved over 200-350 points in a single season, I couldn’t be ars*d reading all your moaning posts in much detail but I sort of got the gist that it was said it couldn’t be done, total boll*ks.
I haven’t looked at Nixies games nor graph so I cant comment on those, but if the best you have is an improvement in chess ability save it, just because you cant improve your naff game don’t rag on those who can and do.
Originally posted by whitedeerwithnohornsI'll second most of that. Since it's 5 a.m. I'm not going to delve deep into it but I feel that my game has greatly improved in the last couple months, and my feel itself for the game has also reached new heights. Not sure if I'm just setting different objectives for myself than I used to or if I'm just more focused, but so far things are looking up, so if it'll work for me I'm sure anyone could do this also.
