The Ultimate Dragon vol. two by Eduard Gufeld & Oleg Stetsko............Pub. Batsford Ltd, London very good book Mastering The Sicilian by Danny Kopec The Sveshnikov Sicilian by Neil McDonald The ultimate Dragon is a great book. I wish my medications would let me remember some of it but I have no retentitive abilities because of meds. so I stick to basic moves.
I'm slightly confused here, maybe someone can clarify. The Sicilian, as a defense, is played by black, so if you're looking for beating the sicilian wouldn't you look for white lines against the sicilian? Is the 'anti' a special version of a Sicilian opening (and if so it isn't really anti is it?)? Sorry if my logic is off, but I'm imagining someone who's being forced to play c5 (maybe a drunk friend jumped on his computer) and is looking for transpositions. Not sure why you're looking at this to help play as black.
Rogozenko defines 'Anti-Sicilian' as "any line where White doesn't play 2 Nf3 and 3 d4 followed by 4 Nxd4. In fact, all these lines are really 'ANti-Open Sicilians', but the term 'Anti-Sicilian' is generally established and it makes no sense to debate this subject. Thus, 'Anti-Sicilian' refers to White playing 1 e4 and in reply to 1 ...c5 going for antoher line than the Open Sicilian."
Some of the more common 'Anti-Sicilians' are the Grand Prix Attack, Closed Sicilian, Alapin Variation (2 c3), and 3 Bb5+ lines.
I like this book. I appreciate the descriptive narrative that he provieds for many of the moves and variations.

Thanks for the reply, that helps. Goes without saying that I have no idea on good books or references 😉

Originally posted by tapestryI don't know which reviews you have read, but here are three reviews of Rogozenko's book.
Could anybody recommend any anti-Sicilian books?
I'm thinking about 'Anti-Sicilians: A Guide for Black by Dorian Rogozenko'. I've read a few reviews and it doesn't quite seem to hit the spot. Any other thoughts? Thanks
