I've been the Grand Prix Attack- 2.f4
or the Morra Gambit- 2.d4...cxd4 3.c3 against the pesky Sicilian as I almost invariably open with 1.e4, looking to go KG or Spanish.

Can anyone give me any decent examples of these or any other anti-Sicilians?

Also are these 2 systems I know any good - I've had lets say mixed results!

Many thanks,
Squelch

Personally, I preface my gran prix attack with 2. Nc3. Then again I have far more success as white in the open sicillian than with the gran prix.

I play the Smith-Morra, with varied success. Here's a nice article about it: http://www.chessville.com/instruction/Openings/Smith-Morra/instr_open_Smith_Morra_Part1.htm

Its probably unsound, but people have played wing gambits against it (b4).

The SWG makes for a beautiful game whatever the result, but I'm not sure I'd have the courage to play it against anyone rated above 1400.

I just do e4 c5 Nf3 Nc6 Bc4 and see when to do d4
against d6 I do e4 c5 Nf3 d6 d4 and go to regular linesbut against e6 I do e4 c5 Nf3 e6 I do d4 also

Have a few examples of the Morra against stronger opponents.

Game 2463986, Game 2505381, Game 2454805,
Game 2373364, Game 2381738, Game 2266665.

I play it almost all the time and of over 20 games here have only lost 4 (so far).

3. Bc4?! is weak and let's black equalize nice and easy.

And I cannot respect anyone who plays a 2. b4?! Wing Gambit, which is also weak imo

Smith-Morra Gambit is kinda nice, but I find it to be an inferior Scotch Gambit as it's the c pawn that black loses, not the central e pawn, but even I don't trust myself on that...

if you hate open sicilians then: 1. play d4 or 2. what's wrong with a sound closed sicilian?

I would post examples of my "anti-sicilian" games as white...but oh looky I play open sicilians.

I play the alapin which can certainly be considered an anti-sicilian: 1.e4 c5 2.c3. Here's probably the most interesting of my wins with the opening: Game 2349658. It is a valid opening, and there are grandmasters who play it regularly. Look for my alapin thread if interested--it is probably on page two by now. There is an interesting link that describes the opening and offers an annotated GM game.

I am trying 2. c3 at the moment (Didn't know it was called the Alapin) as although I get good results with the Morra Gambit I am finding I am struggling a bit against stronger players. No games to quote just yet but 4 in progress.

1. e4 c5 2. Nf3 d6/Nc6 3. c4 and 4. d4 - you get a Marcozy Bind unless black knows what they are doing, most sicilian players don't and hate it. Not possible against 2. ... e6 though, since d5 gets there first.

Another way is 1. e4 c5 2. Nf3 d6 3. d4 cd 4. Nxd4 Nf6 5. f3. intending c4. Although you need to check the theory for an instant e5 and d5 from black which equalises.
