If I were white, I would have played 6.exd5. I would have traded the queens and Bxe3....Then black has to move the knight out and loses tempo...I never claimed this was my perfect game...Even if I had moved 6...Ne5, I am still hurting down in development..and 7. d6 creates an isolated pawn and no place to castle.

I guess the motto of this game, that hopefully that newbie learned, is that if you give yourself a disadvantage by not trading queens, then by all means, trade in your darn ladies! Sheeesh, it's amazing how many newbies refuse to trade queens at all cost, they say the game is "boring then", well, I guess it's their choice, but be prepared to lose if you are unwilling to trade queens.

yes, well said. check this out: Game 725957

i didn't want to trade queens, thought i had a win on my hands (according to fritz, which i consulted later, i did). after the dust had settled though, i wished i had traded. probably would have got the win anyway, and with less chance of stuffing up as spectacularly as i did. hopefully i was just tired or something. needless to say, i'm not proud of this game. dropped a lot of points too...🙁:'(
