It'd be bad form to comment on a game in progress.

Learn it! Then you'll know the answer for yourself.

Edit: You may also want to brush up on Pawn promotion.

Or how to prevent a pawn being promoted on the rooks file. Until you let him move the king off the h-file on move 65 or so you had a stone cold draw. I know it's wrong to comment on in progress games but given the position, R+K vs R is a known win that you and your opponent can find in any beginners book. You have no better move than resigns unless you want to torture yourself and your opponent for the next 20 odd moves.

.......so much for the "no discussion about games in progress" principle.

I think that the guy should have figured it out for himself, you just gave him the answer he was searching in a pretty unfair way.

and this is not the first time this person has asked for information about this game.. he needs to be reminded of the rules.. and ignored.. next time, maybe we should alert and advise that the thread should be closed.

It's okay to discuss games in progress as long as you say first "I know it's not okay to discuss games in progress, but..."

It's like when somebody parks in the street and blocks traffic. They know that's wrong, but it's okay to do it if you put your flashers on, which let's people know you are blocking traffic.

So are you saying that it's right to do something wrong if you first warn about it?

What about "Oh,I know that stealing it's not okay, but......."

this is very silly indeed.

Sarcasm is hard to get on an internet page.

I've read things far worse than that and the people saying it were 100% convinced.

My intention was to save his opponent from being bored to death. My intervention could not possibly have changed the outcome of the game, by anything other than time.

But still it's not fair to ask for advice in forum.

What if he was in an even position and asking "CAN I GET A DRAW" or like some other threads where a guy asks what should do at next move.

This behaviour should be discouraged, even if the game is already decided.
