Game 1260184

Here's another odd win. Caused by a blunder, more than anything else.

if my memory serves me right
"chess , how to win in 20 moves or less" by fred reinfeld is an excellent book of miniatures, which are what 20 and less moves ,games are called.

Game 1438416

At move 14, I had to consider how much I wanted to control the d-file, knowing that my opponent had not developed any of his kingside pieces. So I sacrificed my queen to keep control of the file. Once Black did 16...Qxe5, I spotted the mating opportunity with 17.Nd5 and 18.Nc7 mate, figuring that I'd have at least won a queen for a knight and a bishop, and I'd be ahead on material (two rooks and a bishop versus a rook and a knight and bishop). Imagine my surprise when he completely missed the mate.

Mate in 7 if he'd let me finish.

Game 1510475

Now if he'd moved that pawn forward TWO steps instead of one...

I bow to your superior play n3xeni. I was completely outplayed!! I have a feeling you are going to be a very strong player on RHP.

You are honoring me, but I do not share the same opinion. You just made one big mistake in the game. Last one. Before that you could have saved the game playing Kg3 instead of Bd5?! but with positional diffuculties and eventually materially down. My rook is severely limiting your options in the backrank but you could have solved by giving up some material. I think your thinking process stopped after Bxc3 and blitzed around due to lost feelings. And even a kid would find the rest of the moves for black's side. I definately didn't outplay you 🙂 I was extremely lucky that you never played any of your knights during the game.

Also I made weak moves like Bg4+ and Nc6 but it worked. My idea was quick queenside development (using checks), all that happened in the game (checkmate and rook on your backrank) could be refuted by Nc3. Then I would have nothing since d1 square would be protected. This is what I think.Because you played quickly I won, not because I was superior 😕

I'm not proud of this game, I just posted because I thought it was an interesting short game.

I consider the following to be one of my best games (it's an exact replication of a miniature by Greco, as I later found out, which stole quite a large amount of my thunder....)
1.e4 b6
2.d4 Bb7
3.Bd3 f5
4.exf5 Bxg2
5.Qh5+ g6
6.fxg6 Nf6
7.gxh7+ Nxh5
8.Bg6#
