There is a lovely tactic here.....
Nf4!!!!!
if exf4 nd4 forks queen and bishop. If he moves to d1 to defend the bishop jumps into b3 followed by nc2.
Im gonna hold my hand up and say i havent fully analysed this so feel free to pick holes.
I think b6 is too passive. we are reacting to white. lets make him dance to our tune.
EDIT: should he decline we can jump the knight into d3 ourselves followed by bishop f5 with possibly something discovered on the c2 queen???
Originally posted by TenguI don't like b6, as b4 is strong for white (Nc6 is hanging, I think Nd7 or f5 were much better than Nc6).

Nf4 I also do not like, as white can play Bd1, and then takes on c5 the next go.
As we are struggling already, can we get away with c4? Answer Bxc4 with Rc8 and then Na5, a pawn down, but with some compensation for it.
Originally posted by TenguInteresting line Tengu with 11..Nf4!? but I think he can as you mentioned just play 12. Bd1 (I don't follow the line 12..Bb3?? 13. Qxb3) so after 12. Bd1 then 12..Nd3 13. Nxc5 Nxc5 14. Qxc5 and we are a little worse. The solid but dull 11..b6 has to be the move against a computer however what about 12..Nh3+ instead of 12..Nd3. It might be OK in blitz OTB but I guess against these computers it is best to be solid and not get too involved in tactical exchanges. Can the FEN be put in so we are looking at the board from the black side?

For micarr: With regard to the bb3 line qxb3 is met with nxe2+
I agree that bd1 is strong and nd3 is could be answered with nxc5 nxc5 qxc5
However, after nd3 we could answer...Bf5 instead of ...nxc5
The other option after nxc5 nxc5 qxc5 is rc8 when our pieces look far better than those 2 woeful bishops on the back rank. I think in that situation we definitely have compensation for the pawn.
Just a few suggestions, my vote is still nf4. Its active!

Originally posted by TenguOK I want to go with the line 11..Nf4!? but 11..b6 is more solid though we have problems after 12. b4 as has been pointed out.

Hi Tengu I don't follow you if 12..Bb3?? 13. Qxb3 Ne2+?? 14. Bxe2 end of game?
What about in your line 11..Nf4!? 12. Bd1 Nh3+!? 13. Kh1 Bd5 14. e4 Qh4 with a pretty complicated position
😀
Nf4 just doesn't look nice. If I had to choose, I'd say either b6 or give up the pawn with c4 stuff. Neither look good.
This game looks lost already and so i'm done with it. Nd7 like I suggested should have been played instead of Nc6 and we woudn't have been in this situation.
Have fun defending guys.
