Originally posted by RahimKYes it has many opening trees, it seems that it just chooses an opening at random. I checked and it is using all opening trees and databases.
Sorry I wasn't talking about database. I was actually talking about opening tree, or opening key. Does it have one? The chessmaster I have never played weird opening moves like this. This position in a db, I could only find 60 some games. So it's like CM is trying to get us out of the db or maybe a hand from up above is control CM actions 🙂
It is also possable the short amount of time i am allowing it (5 min) could be causing it to not completly analyze all databases.
I got the idea for the chessmaster vs rhp from this game. It is a game with chessmaster 8000 (I have the 10th edition) vs the web.
I though I might put it here for you veiwing pleasure.
Here is a little about it:
The face of chess changed in 1999 when Kasparov took on the World via the Net. It was the largest interactive competition in history and introduced countless people to the joys of e-mail chess. In a similar challenge Chessmaster got Black by a random flip of the coin and had an hour to decide its move vs. "The Web" which had the remainder of the day (23 hours) to vote on its reply. The machine was winning rather easily but left its king in the corner too long, then made a few inferior moves. The world's lucky escape sheds some light on the difference between how machines and humans think.
