If you're going to sac a rook, you'd better be sure that you're either going to get mate, or win at least a rook.

In your line, instead of Ke1, Ke3 and the king lives on with material advantage. Also, if white plays Kc1, then black DOES have a forced mate via Qc3+. White would have to play Ka3 and again escaping.

Well if I am looking at it right, after 1... Rxb2 2 Kxb2 e3+ 3 Ka3 Qc3+ 4 ka4 (forced) Rd8 black is threatening Rd4+ Ka5 qb4#. Trying to meet this threat with 5. Rb1 would look something like
5 Rb1 Rd4+ 6 Kb5 Qc4+ 7 Kb6 Rd6+ Followed by Qxa6+ and mate follows shortly.

if 5. Kb5 Rb8+ black has to give up the queen to delay mate for a few moves
5. Qa5 Rd4+ Kb5 Rd5+

5 Qb6 Qc4+ followed by Ra1+ and mate soon.

5. Qb7 Rd4 6 Kb5 Rb4+ 7 Ka6(a5) Qa3 mate.

Of course the king wouldnt have to take the rook so even if im right about the other lines not a forced mate, but then black wins easy.

There are two types of sacrifices: correct ones and mine.

[b]Mate in 7 starting with 25...Qc5+ or Qc7+. Best line for White, prolonging the mate is:

25... Qc5+ 26. Kd2 Rxb2+ 27. Ke1 Qc3+ 28. Kf1 Qf3 29. Qe2 Qxe2+
30. Kg2 Qxf2+ 31. Kh1 Qh2#

Anyone else have an equal position which they converted into a victory? Preferably a Middlegame position right after the opening?

Or sort of equal like this one I posted with white 1 pawn down?

if it were equal, and then it was won, then there must have been an error played by one of the players.

do you want us to post positions were some moron blundered away equality?

blundered equality like a piece? I want to see some games like positional basically... Like this one wasn't so bad... 1 pawn down but black slowly built up the position and made it -+.

Post it I guess and take us through it 🙂

Game 3418470

I really like this game. I know there are probably quite a few tactical errors, seeing how neither of us are brilliant in chess, but I was proud of how I saw a doubled pawn, was able to win it, then convert that lead into a won endgame. Once I finally got up a pawn, it would have been better for him to keep the big pieces on the board, but I think it went decently.
I think the real meat of this game started on move 15b with Qe7. I played this because the white squared bishop needed to be traded, it was stuck behind the pawns, but exchanging on b5 would allow him to double up on my poor pawn quickly and possibly undouble his c pawns when all my pieces got tied down and his were active on that open side. By Qe7 I was able to bring the Queen back to the active portion of the board, besides, with the large center and lack of minor pieces, it would be tough for white to get anything going on the kingside anyways.

16. Bxd7 Qxd7
17. dxc5 perhaps double pawn islands are attractive to some.
bxc5
18. Rxb8 gave up the open file
Rxb8
19. 0-0 Qa4-winning the pawn, so the best idea would be an active move, otherwise I get the pawn, or exchanges which would benifit me: if 20 Qc1 is bad, I can use my rook on the c2 pawn and he can do nothing with his. 20 Qd2 Rb2 21. Rc1 Qa2, now the large piece are tied up defending.
from here, white played the not so brilliant c4, but the game was far from won. We continued exchanging until move 30ish, in which I tried to use my activated king to force a favorable endgame.
44...Kf4
45. Rd5 Kg4 (I gave him a couple moves to screw up, I should have gone ahead with my plan)
46. Ra5 Kf4 (praying for him to mess up)
47 Rd5 Re5 (fine, lets force the issue)
48 Rxd4 (48 Kxd4 Rxd5 49 Kxd5 Kg3 0-1, 48. Rxe5 Kxe5...duh 0-1, and anything else transposes into game line)
48.... Kf3
49. Ra4 Re3 (creating my space)
50. Kd2 f4 (protect the pawn
51. Rd4 (he didnt know what to do really, and in reality, there is nothing, my pawn, rook, and king are safe).
Ra3 (more room, plus allows me to manuever his King)
52. Rd8, trying to get behind the pawn
Kf2
53. Rb8 f3
54. Rf8 Kf1
55. Rf4 Ra2 and now it is clearly over (black will play f2 to anything and this is the final Lucene Position [or whatever it is called])
Not only was I happy with this game because it was a win, but more because I was able to win towards an endgame I knew and then convert that into a win. I had an inkling towards this ending back in move 26)

Questions, comments, praise, or mockeries?
