Post some notable examples, for instance:

1. Do not move the queen during the opening as this wastes valuable time & she may well come under attack from minor pieces

Game 3466013
12 queen moves in a game of 22

It's not a rule, and it's "Do not move your Queen during the opening unless you have a good reason."..either way more of guidelines for people who try to checkmate on f7/f2 in the 1st few moves

That game made me ill. Black played like a small child that barely knew how the pieces moved.

Many of the moves took me by surprise as well.
2...f6 & 15...Rc8 were interesting choices.
He/she challenged me in an open invite. Hope I haven't put them off using the site!😀

don't move pawns in the opening, don't move the same piece multiple times, don't bring your queen out early.

danielsen's interpretation of the subject: 1 knight move, 2 queen moves and 11 pawn moves out of the first 14 moves in the game. and he crushed luther. 🙂 oh, and there's no castling either.

Why should you develop your pieces anyway? 😉

Moving a piece twice in the opening...in an open game, especially in a place where it can be captured!

Alexander Morozevich vs Ruslan Ponomariov
http://www.chessgames.com/perl/chessgame?gid=1295413

Position after 11. Ng5...

The basis for this gambit, allegedly sound, is from the game below:

Anatoli Karpov vs Viktor Korchnoi

I would say the centre counter game is an opening that is an exception to the rule:

White's first 17 moves are pawn moves, yet he still manages to win!

Diemer vs Heiling 1-0
http://www.chessgames.com/perl/chessgame?gid=1282302

Anatoli Karpov vs Anthony Miles 1. e4 a6 2. d3 b5... 0-1
http://www.chessgames.com/perl/chessgame?gid=1068157

Mikhail Chigorin vs James Mortimer 1-0 White's King is stuck in the center of the board...but it is Black's King in greater danger!

Aron Nimzowitsch vs Systemsson "The Immortal Overprotection Game" (There probably really is some merit to 2.h4...)

Don't castle, and bring your king out early! 😉

Svetozar Gligoric vs Bent Larsen 1-0

Tal usually goes nuts after playing normal openings...but the opening goes crazy very quickly.

I played that for a while myself, the Qa5 variation, never liked the icelandic version... (not sure of exact name Nf6, e6 etc) but got bored of it, the games were very open and always tended to trade down to an almost immediate endgame, if that makes any sense!?

So it would seem, but isn't one of the reasons that it is sound, the fact that black has already moved one of his knights more than once as well?

Yeah, well, if your opponent blunders even worse than I do, you can win with any opening...
