You used pgn tags instead of fen tags.

Sorry clandarkfire - I was following tomtoms advice and just replaced the pgn tags with fen tags - that was the fen diagram that appeared.

Wow, thats weird. You would think it would just be the usual "invalid fen".

Ah - so the Nc3 is not there to be taken by the rook in this variation. And its an easier mate in 8 to have a chance of spotting since most of the moves are forced checks by black to stop the mate in 1.

Yeah, mate in 8 is a bit misleading, it's really just a mate in three, because noone is really going to bother sacing all those pieces.

Hi

Actually with Rxc3 it was a mainline for a while.

This postion.

is discussed on page 65 of the Yugoslav Attack by Miles & Moscow.

They look at 21.g5 and 21.Rh2.

They don't look at the Nf5 idea promoting someone to write that perhaps
Miles saw it and was saving it up for himself.

This is the line with the pretty finish.
(Black must play Bxf5 instead of Rg8)

That is a pretty mate!

You said - (Black must play Bxf5 instead of Rg8)

Doesn't Bxf5 lead to g5 and mate anyway as in other lines, or am I missing the point and it was just the fantastic double sac you were pointing out.
