Who wouldn't!?!?! A win is a win, why not sac the extra piece or two?

Im sorry but you just dont have a clue what you are talking about. When people are learning chess I always encorage them to sacrifce often, as people who sacrifice more will end up with a better understanding of chess. A lot of sacrifices are theory like the knight sacrifice on e6 or the bishop sacrifice on h7. If you can count king flight squares, understand focal points and know the basic mating patterns then mating sacrifices will be a common part of your game, the only reason for not doing them is lack of understanding. Long term sacrifices require a deeper grasp of chess, but they need to create a weakness or focal point, I suspect your hostility towards sacrifices comes from a lack chess theory.

No, my point is, there is no need to make unecessary sacrefices. If you do a sacrefice, and there is then a non sacreficial mate in 5 moves because of your good sacrefice, then play that. Gary has a habit of doing ANOTHER sacrefice to mate in say, 6 moves, and IMHO, that's showing off, as I am sure he saw the easy non sacreficial mate after his initial sacrefice. Ppl tend to overate his games because of this, basicly they say, "wow, Gary sacked a knight and queen and got the mate!", but in reality, the knight sack was enough to force mate anyways, and in many cases, in lesser moves! Maybe he wants to show ppl you can win anyways by sacreficing your queen recklessly in a won game, who knows, but I don't think it's a good idea to start doing this unless you are Gary Kasparov.

You don't seem to fully understand what chess is about. Its about playing a fun and beautyfull game. And if the mate in 6 with an extra tempo makes the game more beautyfull and memorable then gary plays it because he loves chess.

This is utter bull. Where on earth do you drag these posts from?
No way would Kasparov take a move longer than necessary, or a risk more than necessary, especially against Karpov. Also sacs to force mate as opposed to simply mating must happen incredibly rarely in Kazza's games - top level games are decided well before mate (I recall Shirov walking into a helpmate against him a few years back, but what other games have finished with mate?)

Unless you can back statements like these up with game refs, you really just show up a complete and utter lack of understanding of chess at any level.

You would probably get the best games if you took the worlds 2 strongest players kasparov and Annand or kramnik and have them play a cc game together.
I'd go as far as to say kasparov and anand. Don't really find kramnik that exciting. He's a great player, i just don't understand his style enouph. Anand on the other hand, yes please. Kasparov...well, he's kasparov init 😵

in this thread have been posted many interesting and exciting games with spectacular combinations and fireworks .....

unfortunately, as david tebb said .... some of these games are not of the highest standard.

Tal was SO good when he was healthy ... If I had to pick one favourite it would be him, mainly because I think I see what he's doing, after he's done it of course 🙂
