Originally posted by deeploserNo dude, did I suggest that? I just asked a question here. Which I truly think was a legitimate question, even though I have just started here, as I don't want to play here against some "Chess Engine".
In your 3 moves you think someone is cheating?
Thanks for the great responses to my question, guys. I definitely will stick around here for a while (untill I get truely thrashed by you guys) 😉
Originally posted by rubberjaw30The sort of graph I am talking about is the sort that User 262587 has. He was playing at a level of 1300 for a considerable while until suddening he screams up to 1700+. Nothing gradual here but a sudden dramatic improvement. There are worse (better) examples, some of them still active so I cannot show them in a public forum but such graphs are good reason for suspicion.
funny you'd be the first to make note of that, as you must have the flattest graph I've ever seen on this site...
Weyerstrass's isn't even that level! Impressive!
Please note I say suspicion only. In isolation they are not proof of anything.
Maintaining a flat graph around you true rating is easy, especially if you are not prone to being timed out.
Originally posted by Dragon Fire1600 to 2200 sounds like a lot. but I wouldn't jump into any conclusions without knowing the details. it could be that the graph covered 3 years of improvement for example, which would make it only 100 points more than smaug's peak at 2100. or it could be smaller improvement accompanied with changing from drunken blitz with a 300 game gameload to meticulous thoroughly analyzed CC against 4 players at a time. or whatever. there can be reasons.
A very strong indication of engine use as humans don't improve that much instantly but rather make a more gradual stepped improvement over a considerable time.
which is why statistical analysis is the only way to go about these things.

I struggled for a draw against a player rated 50 points below me in an OTB event last week. I beat the same player in an event one year ago when my rating was 500 higher. My rating has been at a plateau this past year.

Hi,
I know that not only it is stupid playing with the help of a Chess engine here (might as well not play here), but it is also very much against the rules. Any way to figure out if someone is doing that?
Regards,
Derek
Is there a legit reason to grab pgn (or fen) data on move 26 (for instance) of a game in progress?

When I gave up postcards for server chess my first tmt. was on what looked like a nice site. So I’m playing two 1800’s and four 2100’s. The 1800’s played about as expected but the 2100’s moves just looked “odd”, too good, if you know what I mean, so I checked the rules and computer use was not even mentioned. When I got e-mails of the completed games, I let Fritz check 2 or 3 at 3 min per move and it made no suggested improvements, none, zero. Then I looked at a couple games move by move and almost every move was Fritz’ first choice. Oh well so I went 1-5 in that one. Other than that about 100 server games later I’ve played maybe 3 or 4. Not enough to worry about. If anybody wants to use an engine they can freely play on the above site but I doubt they’d get past those hundreds of 2100 guys unless they are really good to start with.
hi all..
in that mater Knowing or not if someone is using a chess program it's very difficult .. i think that u can't say if one is using it or not, by the replys that ones play against e4 ... or d4, c4 or even Knight f3.. all those moves r well known to those Who play chess in a regular basis (like club players, federated players etc.. or even one or another curiouse about chess maters), in OTB play it is very usual to respond 1:...;e5 to 1:e4 and 2:....;Nc6 to 2:Nf3 (That leads to the Giuoco Pianno)a very comfortable game for both payers)) and we can achive the first 10 moves for both side in a mater of minutes, if both players follow the theory of course. so .. i think that u can rely on the moderaters in that mater.
greetings Artur
