10 minute game - advance French (Milner Barry Gambit).
It takes the Gambit pawn - Goes astray by allowing too much
counter play for the pawn. Beat it with same line again and again.
Also knocked off book mode:
Well it's opening database has been w they hurt more than winning.
PS.
57 on the 30th June - wants Happy Birthday email.
again, giving the computer no book is like taking some chips and cables out, and tell "a human doesn't need a chip, so why should it?". it's not the right way of interpreting computers.
and I bet you've been playing only against the beta version which has a limited depth of 3 or 2, I don't remember. I'm sure you would score %0 against the last commercial version on any time control.
I'm not lying, it was 3 months ago - I've no idea if it was
the half cut version. But I think not.
Try it yourself - you have the thing.
10 minute game - Advanced French - Milner Barry Gambit.
Attack it.
I'll send you the game. It would be intresting to see if it follows
the same line.
As for knocking off it's opening book.
(the book was on in the French game)
it's not like pulling out wires.
I was playing it at chess.
It took me out of 'my memory' with 3...Qe7.
It did beat up my Latvian by playing 'theory' out of book mode
and that was clever, it also outplayed me in a Falkbeer.
but the Petroff it came unstuck. Try it.
Am emailing friend to see if he still has game on record.
Please do not call me a liar.

Originally posted by greenpawn34I really dont think you played the full version of Rybka iv watched it play a number of games against good GM's and other engines and it really takes them apart. It also apears to be the least materialistic engine I know.....well maybe not on par with say gambit tiger, but even I can prove some of gambit tigers ideas and moves wrong when its choosing not to grab material, but Rybka's lines tend to be rock solid.

If you wish to try playing the full version and seeing the results we could fire it up in playchess's engine room, id be most intrested in watching you play as would a number of other people I know who test the engine for the developer, the games would provide good food for thought.
We could post the pgns here after and then analysis to see where the engine went wrong if it does indeed lose.

Here is the computer game I'm on about.
I think I played a good game.

see next post.
Finally figured out that PGN stuff.
You will notice the computer playing some odd moves.
Rd8 threw me but it was the only move to stop mate.
Now the cock-up.
Look someone mentioned Chess Master (they did earlier in the thread).
It's not my fault! (that's why I called myself a Fudd)
This was against Chess Master - he has Rybika (what ever it's
called and I did play that) but the French win was against
Chessmaster.
Still a good game by me - yes?
So I am a liar after all.
I was mistaken - hell I'm 57 in few days - still want my email.
Originally posted by greenpawn34Just running quickly through it, chessmaster cant be on its highest level in the game. Towards the end CM plays Qd1 which allows white to mate in 3, if it was on its highest setting it would have picked a move which kept mate out of its immediate horizon. The fact that it played Qd1 shows that it was actively playing weaker moves than its top choice.

Did I miss a mate in three?
It was not on it's highest level - I said that.
I played dozens of games against it/them.
These things takes ages on their top level.
Be interesting to see what Rybka (what a silly forgetable name)
does in the opening. Ne7 is the bogey.
Black should play a6 - be funny if Rybka followed it
move for move (doubt it).
Originally posted by greenpawn34No, it played Qd1 allowing you to mate in 3 instead of endless "better" moves which delayed mate much longer.

You can set most engines to play at their top ability in any timed game. You can often see the likes the Fritz, Rykba and Hiarcs playing against top GMs in 1-3 and 5 min games on Playchess and ICC, making it play to its max in a 10 min game shouldnt be a problem. 🙂
