I like this. Mates are always better when there is a danger involved 🙂

Black made a mistake with 10 Bg4.He should have played Nxd5 attacking you knight on g5.This ultimately sends you into the end game 2 pawns down.

Of course I may not be right, as I've heard 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3 d4
exd4 4. c3!? Called the Scotch Gambit many times. I always categorized it t ...[text shortened]... . 🙂

Last edit: You ever notice how us old codgers go on and on and on and on and... ?
Isn't this the Smith Morra Gambit?

No, that's the same trick in the Sicilian, rather than in the open. I.e., it's

1. e4 c5 2. d4 cxd4 3. c3

Opening C44 Scotch Goering gambit

Thats what it says in the game console. Was convinced it transposed into the Danish after Bxb2.

Prettier? Both ways accomplish the same outcome. Why is one prettier than the other?

The Danish and the Goring can tranpose in each other if Black takes or
White allows the capture on b2.

After 6. Bxb2 Bb5+ takes us into the Danish and 6.Bxb2 d6 is the Goring.
6...d6 is meant to be the soundest option.

In the 6...Bb5+ mainline (that I know/knew things may have changed.)
White castles Queenside!

6. Bxb2 Bb4+ 7. Nc3 Nf6 8. Qc2 d6 9. O-O-O

And any White with a tactical eye and nothing else....Ahem....Cough.
(There will be no endgame here and postional moves are out the window)
should get the type of game he wants.

Good Luck!

Because there is something inherently pretty about a mate with a piece that's in danger. Just my view though...

Should black have played

10... Kxd5?

Whites g5 knight is hanging and looks like a 2 for one deal. Or am I wrong?
