you mean alternative? I don't understand. I also didn't get the joke about popeye and feeling at home.
all accepted moves have to be above 1.75. I think there are other details like if there is a mate, a non mating move isn't accepted in Standard even if it's greater than 1.75, but is accepted in blitz, or that if the difference between two moves that are above 1.75 is greater than x, the lower one isn't accepted, etc.
Anyway. Perhaps I am a bit too harsh in discommending ChessTempo, just because I don't understand its positions, but who cares about my opinion anyway. Another thing I noticed is that I am apparently (not sure?) being served the "hardest positions" there, perhaps the positions & solutions make more sense in the lower rating regions & higher solve percentages. Although the ones I do now, are solved by roughly 50%, so I'm not so sure how come there are so few with 2200+ ratings...? (notice I'm not even good at this game and I am already in top 20 there without trying 😕)

Originally posted by heinzkatsorry, I still don't get it. there's no limit to what the score of the second best move can be. there are some kill or die positions where you have to mate, and the second best move gets you mated. for a move to be accepted by the system as an alternative solution, it too has to be above 1.75.

and, let's say 1.Rxc3 is the correct first move. after 1...bxc3, if your 2.Qd5+ wins a rook and 2.Qf3+ draws, and you play 2.Qf3, the problem will be counted wrong. there's no reward for getting the first move right and fail in the continuation. every single move you make has to be above 1.75 for the problem not be counted wrong.

once I reached a plateau and started getting problems that I just couldn't understand. I struggled on and on and I finally decided to switch to "easy" mode where the average of the problems I get are 200 points lower than my rating. I broke my rating barrier and as I moved up, I finally reached another plateau where I get the same level of questions as the previous plateau, and this time I do understand most of them.

I don't like it because I don't understand it - clueless as to what is asked from me 🙁

There must be a "best" ChessTempo puzzle somewhere available as considered by its users, do you have an idea?
this is the first the system gave me in 5 star problems (voted by users) above 2100:
this is pretty hard but nice. white to move.
