"Fischer played in the positional style of Capablanca."
Whoa?!! Capablanca and Fischer were predominantly positional players? I remember both better for their attacking game.
Seriously, this is is standard. I am not making it up!!
I would like to add a precision.
The World Championship, in its 1980's form was required by Fischer in his match against Karpov in 1975. In other words, he wanted that :
- an unlimited number of games
- the first player who gets 6 victories is the world champion
Before, for example during the Fischer Spassky match, it was an old system : the best of 24 games where he won against Spassky with a score of 7 victories against 3 (after 21 games).
Something astonished me, Capablanca is reputed to be a positionnal player, he has the best skills for the exploitation of slight advantages.
Fischer is a pure offensive player, like Kasparov (in the 1980's), Tal, Alekhine.
