When you insult someone with 1200 rating it's almost welcome. Words like moron, idiot, monkey, even dick, it doesn't matter, everyone can do it, no one complaints (altough I think forum mods should be less forgiving when it comes to insulting)
WHEN YOU CALL 2300 PLAYER A TROLL, IT'S A SCANDAL WHICH BECOMES BIG INTERNATIONAL DEBATE ??????!!!!!!!!! WHY?????????
Outside this site they are human beings with equal right do exist and have an opinion. So here it should be the same.
I do not see correlation between rating and right to be immune of insulting. 😞

I could not agree more...
Originally posted by ivan2908I think you're missing the point. Sure, "troll" is fairly mild as insults go, but Korch may actually have something to say about chess which I'd like to hear, whereas the probability of that being true for a 1200 rated player is considerably less. Why are prima donnas tolerated when they sing exceptionally well but not when they have untrained, ordinary voices? (Except, of course, in popular music, but the standards of that industry are often unfathomable.)

However, my understanding (from Korch) is that despite mentioning the "troll" thing in his profile, it was merely "the last straw" rather than a deciding factor in and of itself. Apparently he had been annoyed by a number of threads in which conversation did not meet his standards for constructive dialogue, and decided that his time could be better spent without the distraction of forum participation. Apparently he was also having trouble with trolls (real ones) -- whether here or elsewhere he did not say -- who interrupted chess discussions by saying "chess sucks" and otherwise engaging in personal diatribes.
